What Can Kyla Predict?

Health Conditions

Prognostics Engine uses probabilistic models for understanding personalized health of the patient. This is achieved by modeling a large number of medical conditions and interactions between them in the form of risk factors, shared symptoms and lab tests.

The engine calculates personalized probability of each modeled condition based on patient information. In this way, the risk engine creates a ranked list of conditions sorted by the personalized likelihood of having that condition and condition severity.

Risk Factors

Assessment of personalized risk for a patient is based on patient information that we call evidence or Risk Factors. The Risk Factors consist of basic facts such as sex and age, but may also include observations on lifestyle, biometrics, socio-economic information, medical history, symptoms, vitals, blood results and DNA sequencing.

Prognostics Engine generates a ranked list of risk factors sorted by the influence of those factors on the patient's health.

Health Score

The Health Score (HS) a metric used to provide an idea of the overall health of a person. The HS concept was originally inspired by the idea of the credit score. The number ranges from 0 to 1000. The low values (typically in the range of 100-300) indicate very poor health with some serious underlying medical conditions, while high values (typically in the range of 600-900) indicate a person of good health. The number is sensitive to the age - young people of good health are expected to have HS in the range of high 800s, while individuals of good health of age 80 are expected to have HS values in the 600s.

Lifetime

The Engine can also predict a patient's remaining lifespan by analyzing large amounts of data and identifying patterns that are associated with mortality risk. Some of the factors considered when predicting include: medical history, vital signs, lifestyle factors, genetic factors, social determinants of health and the Health Score.

By analyzing these and other factors, the Prognostics Engine can create a mortality risk score for a patient, which can provide insights into their expected lifetime. It is important to note that mortality predictions are not 100% accurate, and that there are many factors that can impact a patient's lifetime, including lifestyle changes and medical advancements. However, the Prognostics Engine can provide valuable insights into mortality risk, which can inform healthcare decisions and improve patient outcomes.
