Matcha is a powdered tea made from whole green tea leaves. The leaves are grown a bit differently than regular green tea, resulting in a higher amino acid content and the signature dark green color many of us are familiar with. Powdered matcha is a highly concentrated source of antioxidants and some studies show it may protect the liver, improve brain function and decrease LDL (“bad”) cholesterol! It contains caffeine, so it makes a great substitute for coffee if you are looking for an alternative. If you don’t like the taste of matcha, this delicious smoothie with added peaches and creamy Greek yogurt could change your mind! This smoothie is high in protein and works great as a breakfast, snack or post workout treat.
